A Shahsevan region horse or animal cover. Probably used under a saddle. Bright colors and size make it an excellent floor piece although it has mounting rings for using it as a decorative wall hanging.
An unusual carpet with a large Lesghi Star motif. Woven most likely in the SE Caucusus although clear attribution of this piece is difficult. The design is bold and striking and makes a statement in any room in which it is placed. In excellent condition and ideal as a furnishing piece.
A lovely example of the Manastir variety of Prayer Carpet. This design was actually woven by Islamic Turkish weavers for use by Christians. The motif contains two crosses in the upper portion of the Mihrab. In some examples of this variety, the motif is very clearly a representation of a church or monastery roof with crosses on it -- hence the name -- Manastir or Monastery. In very good condition.
A truly pristine specimen of the Shirvan variety of Prayer Carpet. This is a stately, classic design that exemplifies the elegance achieved in this special class of weaving. A mid-19th Century piece. The square shape is belied by this photo as the rug was photographed from a slight angle. The actual piece is nearly square -- a rarity in itself.
A very old and archaic variety of Yomut Main Carpet. Smaller than some of the typical main rugs found in this region. In overall very good condition. Sides have been overcast by a recent repair firm. However this carpet has a stark beauty and interesting color scheme that draws one away from any of its very minor flaws. This is a rug made with love.
